MathBoard App Reviews

Great app for tutoring!

I use this app when tutoring kids at a local community center. This app is extremely helpful in explaining operations to the kids and they find it more interactive and fun than just solving problems with pencil and paper. I find the downloadable manual extrmemly useful also.

Id love it but...

There is no way to turn off "borrowing" and "carry over" problems, making the program utterly useless for my daughter who hasnt yet gotten to "regrouping" problems. Id love for this option to be added so that I could actually use this program with her, as it is Im now on the hunt for a different program and will return to this one in the future when she is learning said math problems.

Pretty Nice

My students enjoy this app on both my iPad and MacBook Pro. It would be cool if somehow students could work through problems on their own pace. I admit that I have not tried out all features. Will write/revise later.

Great!

Love all the options! And that i can save results for each kid. Has adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, negative numbers, squares & squares roots. Can also do early algebra - _+1=3 Wish it had adding and subtracting money, fractions, and decimals!

Student Assessment

This has been a great addition to my assessing techniques. The only issue I have seen is that in the latest update, they removed the "request" to save, so you have to have the settings set for auto save in order to get the option to save the results.

Its good

Add Pemdas, fractions and find missing number

Love it

I really love your app because it. Has addition. Subtraction and division plus equation . It is really helpful that you can even transfer to your apple tv which I had one Fron gema

Thank you, you helped my niece to master basic arithmetic

My niece used to have some trouble with basic arithmetic problems. After some weeks of training with MathBoard she mastered them. Congratulations to the dev team.

Possible bug on menu

Can not change the amount of number ratio top or bottom. The option is available on the menu but will not hi light so that I can select. I have played with the menu to see if something needs to be turned off in order for the setting to become available, I havent had any luck. Other than that my 5th grader enjoys using this application.

Indispensable!

I use MathBoard individually with my caseload of ten students and my 7th grade daughter at home, and it serves both groups equally well. I can track quizzes for each student, change the parameters of the quiz, track ongoing skill development by answers correct, the original answers/problems so I can locate error patterns, the time each student took on each quiz and even the time they took on each question so I can track fluency! A great app, very useful in my classroom!

Was great

App works fine, but latest update has been giving us an ad after every math set. I despise apps for kids that try to get them to buy other things.

Great, but temporary 3 stars for new touch glitch

This app is essential for any parent of school-aged children (or for children!) that want other ways to help kids learn all sort of math, especially the basics of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. However, it seems the latest version has a touch glitch when trying to tap the correct answers when multiple choice is enabled. Im using an iPad 2 and it takes 2 or more taps before the answer is recognized. Its really frustrating to our 4th grade daughter trying to get fast with multiplication. The iPad in question is healthy and has no touch issues elsewhere, so it seems to be this app. Hope a fix is upcoming. It used to receive touch responses flawlessly.

Its good

but what what would make it great would be if you could put your own examples in.

Amazing math app

Perfect for my 4th grader to practice all her newly honed math skills with real multiplication and division problems. Love the blackboard scratch pad. Great customer support. Emailed a problem and got immediate response from developers!

Boring

Very boring way of practicing math

Im a kid

Ok so im a kid and i got this app and i play it all the time. Now thats saying somthing and not that im a geek

What happened guys?

Used to be a great app, but the max answer option in settings has stopped working. Makes it kind of useless for my 1st grader.

Result chart

I need to turn off the result side of the mathboard because my child using it find the answers to problem that may repeat. Thank you, Capricorn901

Misleading advertising

Although this app proclaims to be for any age, there is nothing instructional about this app. It doesnt ask for the childs age or automatically scale up or down the level based on wrong or right answers. Its idea of help is to display a table where the child can look up the answer. If you are wanting your child to learn to double digit addition, you walk through the steps, explain what you are doing and then repeat and repeat with different examples. Dont expect this app to satisfy any self-educational value for your child.

A Math Tester for the Mature Audience!

Ive been waiting for this Math Board app for the iPhone ever since I walked into an Apple Store & tested it on the iPad a year ago, only to find out it was only for the iPad… Thank you, Palasoftware, Inc., for bringing it to the iPhone. For decades Ive wanted to have a math quizzer (as a young boy, I begged my father to get me, Texas Instruments "Little Professor"). Before the iPhone, I could only find electronic devices that were unmistakably intended for children, and unfortunately that trend continues for many of the math quizzing apps today. Thank YOU for not designing your app in a childish fashion. Thats a big plus for us mature customers who realize you have to keep practicing in order to be faster at math. Theres a lot of cool intricacies that make this app amazing as you discover them, such as the swiping-screen breakdown of how to calculate the problem. I do like how each quizzing session is saved and reviewable. I kind of wish there was the option to stop the problem from disappearing upon inputting the answer; sometimes, I like to look at it and go over how I just calculated it (doing so, is possible via "wrong answer quiz", but I have to work my way back to it, still). By the way, Ive studied left-to-right calculation, via the CD course, Mega Math, by Scott Flansburg. Im nowhere near his speed, but Im faster than I was before his course. So, it would be nice if your breakdown covered left-to-right, also. My BIGGEST complaint is in the options for choosing the number of digits in the math problems… I REALLY wish it had the number roller-wheel system, as opposed to the left-and-right triangular buttons. I realize you can hold down to make the numbers increase or decrease speedily, but thats still too slow. Please make a roller-wheel! Also, when choosing keypad mode, the push responsiveness of the buttons needs improvement; Its good, but still needs speedier push responsiveness. Even still, this is a GREAT MATH APP, and I hope MANY MORE ADULTS buy this, AND USE THIS!
